What are your subconscious goals? The trick to getting in touch with your subconscious is very simple: don’t give yourself time to think. So just try this. Take a sheet of paper… set a timer for thirty seconds…. and write down your three most important goals! Do you have your sheet of paper? GO GO GO!

How did it go? Did you truly limit yourself to thirty seconds? Productivity expert Brian Tracy uses this exercise with his clients, and he believes the thirty second time limit is absolutely key. He shares, “When people have thirty seconds to write their three most important goals, their answers are as accurate as if they had thirty minutes or three hours. Their subconscious minds seem to go into hyperdrive, and their three most important goals pop out of their heads and onto the paper.”

Did that happen with you? Were you surprised with what you wrote down? Sometimes, the key to achieving self-honesty is just to startle yourself into it!

Pick up your paper again. It’s time for the next part of the exercise! For each of your three goals, grade yourself on a scale of one to ten: how close are you to achieving it? You’ll see right away where you’re doing well-- and where you could really use some improvement.

Want to dig deeper? Repeat the Quick List exercise for each of THESE seven important questions. Give yourself only thirty seconds for each question, of course.
  1. What are your three most important business or career goals right now?
  2. What are your three most important family or relationship goals right now?
  3. What are your three most important financial goals right now?
  4. What are your three most important health goals right now?
  5. What are your three most important personal and professional development goals right now?
  6. What are your three most important social and community goals right now?
  7. What are your three biggest problems or concerns in life right now?

Whatever your answers, they will usually be an accurate snapshot of your true situation in life at the moment. You’ll see right away what is really important to you.

And after you see what’s important? You can start working towards the life YOU want, instead of chasing what you “should” be pursuing. After all-- there are always a hundred things you “should” be doing at any given moment! So “should” can be useless as a compass for guiding your life. This exercise digs past the contradictory “shoulds” we find in the conscious mind and exposes what is actually driving you in your subconscious.

Once you bring your conscious and your subconscious into alignment, you will be an unstoppable powerhouse of goal achievement. Every human being’s ultimate goal is to live a long, happy, and healthy life. And using the Quick List Method, you can get quite a bit of insight on what path will take you there.
