Ronald L. Jacobs is professor of human resource development at the University of Illinois. He is a frequent contributor to the human resource development scholarly literature, having written nearly 100 journal articles and book chapters on human resource development, structured on-the-job training (S-OJT), employee expertise, and organizational improvement. Ron is particularly known for introducing structured on-the-job training (S-OJT) to the management and human resource development literature. Ron has focused much of his research on determining the financial benefits of S-OJT, information that is critical for making more informed training investment decisions. Ron has extensive consulting experience in both manufacturing and service organizations, having worked for numerous large organizations including American Electric Power, General Motors, KLM Airlines, Abbott Laboratories, Seagate, and Rohm and Haas, and Huawei, among others. He has presented and consulted internationally in Taiwan, China, South Korea, Malaysia, Kuwait, Bahrain, Germany, Italy, Slovenia, Singapore, and Netherlands. Dr. Jacobs has also implemented S-OJT as part of national workforce development systems in South Korea, Malaysia, and Saudi Arabia.Ronald L. Dr. Jacobs has served as editor of the Human Resource Development Quarterly, the leading scholarly journal of the human resource development field, and currently serves as the president of the Academy of Human Resource Development.
